The Bay Area Association of Practicing Anthropologists (BAAPA) is a local practitioner organization in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Open Anthropology Cooperative (http://openanthcoop.ning.com/) is a fairly new forum here on Ning that may be of interest. The site serves as a portal for a number of interest groups that are of interest to anthropologists. The great thing about it is, if you do not find a group that matches your interests, it is very easy to start your own.

The Society for Applied Anthropology (SfAA) has a web site on Ning. It's just like ours...except that they have over 700(!) members. Anyway, it is well worth checking out: http://sfaanet.ning.com/

The site seemed a little dark with spring in the air, so I changed the appearance with one of Ning's new templates (minus a lovely but frou-frou image) to perk it up. Give me a thumbs up or thumbs down--if thumbs down win, I'll change it back!

This means that if you wish to receive the job postiings and other listings that are occasionally sent to members, you will need to join out yahoo listserv if you have not already done so: http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/bayareaanthros/
I realize that it is a little inconvenient to…

Hi everyone-
Thanks to everyone who tolerated the interruption and smiled for the camera at the BAAPA happy hour during the AAA meetings. Apologies to those I did not identify in the photos--I asked for names and was sure I'd remember them, but that glass of wine afterward washed the memory away...If you're in these pictures or know who is, will you help me identify them so we know who these fun-loving folks are?
Thanks!
Darcie

I spent each and every night until 4: 00 am, a time came when I could not write further, not even a single character of my dissertation. I went to the bed and start planning for next day progress of my dissertation
but helpless as I fell to sleep and the next morning, 8 o’ clock I was up
writing my dissertation again.
This is the most common situation for students because most if not all students have…
